Homeowners could avoid paying taxes to the IRS

In the United States, being a homeowner can result in the payment of several annual taxes. However, the IRS will not always request these taxes, as it is possible not to have to pay them if we are on the list of citizens eligible for this situation.

What is certain is that in the majority of cases homeowners will have to pay the taxes derived from the rental of their house to the IRS, but it is good to be aware of the situation in which we are exempt from this.

Remember that these taxes must be included in your annual IRS Tax Return. Even if you pay the taxes, you may get some of them back in your annual Tax Refund. It all depends on the overall payment of taxes, but it is true that we will have to pay them at the beginning.

Which homeowners do not have to pay taxes to the IRS?

The truth is that the group of homeowners who do not pay IRS taxes on their income from renting a house is very small. This group is made up only of those who rent their homes for less than 15 days. It is not very common to fall into this category, but it is certainly possible.

However, in the event that a homeowner rents out their home for more than 15 days, they will have to pay taxes to the IRS in 2025. But it is true that there are some other expenses that can be deducted from your Tax Return. These can be mortgage interest, real estate taxes, maintenance or even insurance that we have taken out.

In order to report these expenses, it is necessary to include Form 1040 and all corresponding annexes in our Tax Return. Remember that it is mandatory to include invoices and all kinds of documentation necessary to be able to deduct these annual expenses.

Until when can I file my IRS Tax Return in 2025?

The deadline for submitting the IRS Tax Return in 2025 is April 15th, 2025. If you already have all the documentation ready, you should send it as soon as possible, as this will ensure that we do not miss the deadline set by the IRS.

Even so, there is still time to comply with our tax obligations. Remember that the sooner you send the documentation, the sooner the IRS will send you your tax refund, so it’s to your advantage to do it as soon as possible.
