With the Christmas season upon us and the amount of expenses regardless of where we live in the United States, the new Social Security payments coming soon will come as a financial relief to American families.
Of course, each of the different groups will be able to get their payments on a different day of the month, as usual. And in the next week we will find the last of the Social Security payments for the whole year. We are talking about the last retirement payment, since SSI payments may still appear before the end of 2024.
Be that as it may, the important thing is to know if we are eligible to get this payment. If we are not eligible, it means that our payment should already be in our current account. Group 4 is the group of Americans who will be able to count on this new Social Security check. So be sure to pay attention so that you have a clearer picture and can enjoy your monthly check.
Who gets the last Social Security check before Christmas?
Only one group can get the payment on the day just before Christmas. This is group 4 of United States retirees, but it is true that if we take into account the usual schedule the payment should arrive on December 25th. The reason the Social Security Administration sends the payment on the day before is because the 25th is a holiday.
For that reason, those Americans in group 4 may get their payment a day earlier than usual. To be part of group 4, two requirements must be met:
- Have a benefit since after May 1997.
- Have a birthday between the 21st and 31st of any month.
So we should keep in mind that if we are not part of this group it means that we should already have the payment, since it is the last payment for retirees for the month of December and the year 2024. After that, we could get a new payment on the 31st of December, but only if we are eligible for monthly SSI.
Also, we should not forget that if we want to get the money on the same day of the mailing we must have Direct Deposit activated. On these days, the Social Security Administration sends the checks, but we cannot always get the money in the same way. If this collection method is not activated, the money may appear up to three days later.
