More than 71 million U.S. retirees, VA Veterans and disability beneficiaries are eagerly awaiting the date when it will be known how much the Social Security payment increase will be in 2025.
Also, there is already an estimate of how much the increase will be. According to experts, the cost of living increase for 2025 will be 2.5%. It should be noted that these same experts were right about the 2024 increase, which was 3.2%.
The date that the US Government has announced to know the desired increase, is October 10, the day after the second Social Security payment of October, since on October 3 the retirees were paid before 1997.
When will I receive the new COLA increase?
Once we know the Cost of Living increase and the final amounts that retirees will receive, the new payment will begin in January 2025.
January payments will be received on January 3, 16, 23 and 30, as the month has 5 Wednesdays and payments are made on the last three Wednesdays of the month.
