The Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA) has an effect on many of the payments the U.S. Government sends to beneficiaries. And SNAP Food Stamps is one of those payments that is increased through the COLA. Still, it is true that the payments for this benefit have a slightly different increase.
The 2025 SNAP Food Stamps checks will be larger than the 2024 payments. However, it is true that the COLA for these benefits will come a little earlier than we think. Ultimately, SNAP Food Stamps is managed by the USDA and the USDA applies the COLA before the Social Security Administration does.
If you have a SNAP Food Stamps check and are expecting to get a raise in 2025 you should know that this will not be the case. But not because we won’t get an increase, but because the increase will come sooner. Anyway, all indications are that the increase won’t be too large, so we won’t have many more extra dollars in this benefit.
COLA for SNAP Food Stamps in 2025
As we have already discussed, the 2025 COLA will take effect on SNAP Food Stamps before that year begins. The reason for this is that USDA applies the COLA in the month of October. So, those recipients with a SNAP Food Stamps benefit will have October’s payment on their EBT card with a bit of a bump.
In theory, however, we will not have too much of an increase in this SNAP Food Stamps benefit. The COLA may cause the maximum check to increase to $292 per family member with this check. But we should wait a little while until the USDA sends the check to the EBT card with the COLA added so we can be sure what the amount will be.

So, depending on the State in which we live we will be able to enjoy the payment earlier or later. And in this month we should see the COLA included in the SNAP Food Stamps payment on the EBT card.
