The Social Security Administration (SSA) will have major changes for the month of August in the September calendar payments and the SSI payment, which due to the holiday on the 1st, will be paid earlier in the month of August.

It is important to note the increase in the Social Security payment in September with respect to 2023 due to the cost of living (COLA).

3 major changes in September 2024

SSI: Social Security has confirmed that the Supplement payment will be made on August 30 due to September 1 falling on a Sunday. The maximum monthly SSI payment for 2024 is $943 for an individual and $1,415 for a couple.

Social Security Schedule in September: Social Security payments will have changes to the day of the month, but will remain in order by age group and on the second, third, and fourth Wednesday of the month. Also, pre-1997 retirees will be paid on September 3.

September Social Security COLA payment increase: The U.S. Social Security Cost-of-Living Adjustment (COLA) increased in 2024 by 3.2%. Therefore, September payments will have the COLA increase as follows:
