One of the main rules of the United States Social Security retirement benefit is that we have to wait for one of the payment days to get the money. And each of the payment days has specific requirements. And we don’t get to choose which day of the month we get our monthly check.
After all, in order to belong to one group of retirees or another, we need to take into account the requirements. However, it is very easy to know directly to which group of pensioners we belong. In this sense, the type of retirement does not matter in determining which Social Security group we belong to.
What is important to know at what time of the month we will have the money available is both the year of retirement and the birthday. With these two pieces of information we can mark on the calendar each month the exact day on which the Administration will send us our monthly check.
Of course, sometimes we can encounter delays in sending the retirement money, but this is not usual. In these cases, it is common for the Administration to send the money without delays. Even so, we could have delays if we do not choose the fastest collection method to get the Social Security. Which collection method do you have activated?
Requirements for the next March Social Security payment
The day on which the Social Security Administration will send the new payment for retirees will be March 27th. It is important to know that this day will be the last day of the month. There will be no new payments coming out of the Social Security offices for U.S. retirees.
So if we are not part of the group that gets checks on this day we will have to check if there is a problem with our benefit. In that case we should claim payment as soon as possible, since the check is late.
But before that we should check if we are part of this group of retirees or not. To get the check on the 27th day of March we have to have the retirement after May 1997, as well as the birthday between the 21st and 31st of any month.
These are the only two mandatory requirements to get the check from the Social Security Administration. But we must add that if we want to have the money at the same time the Administration sends it, we will have to have Direct Deposit activated.
