Payments from the Social Security Administration follow a schedule that is usually the same each month. This gives United States citizens an idea of when they will receive their new checks each month. Still, there are some irregularities that cause Social Security payments to arrive differently in certain months.
This can be good news because it results in some beneficiaries receiving an extra benefit during the same days of the month. Still, keep in mind that this extra benefit is not a new check, but an advance on an upcoming check. Therefore, if we do a calculation of how much money we receive from Social Security between the two months at the end of July it will be the same.
But receiving it earlier means being able to arrange some aspects of life earlier. And now that summer is coming, extra money can come in handy so you can plan your vacation with more time and leeway. So check to see if you’ll receive that extra check in June 2023 and what you can do to get it in time.
How to receive the extra Social Security check
The first thing to keep in mind is that if we do not have the Supplemental Security Income benefit accepted we will not be able to receive this extra check.
So, that is the first requirement, but not the only one. Besides that, there are other indispensable requirements to be able to receive 3 different checks in the month of June.
These are all the mandatory requirements to enjoy three Social Security checks within the days of June 2023:
- Have Supplemental Security Income accepted in advance.
- Have an accepted retirement benefit. It doesn’t matter if it’s pre-1997 or if it’s disability or age-based.
- Activate Direct Deposit as a payment method.
Without these three conditions being met, we will not be able to receive the extra check. Ultimately, this extra check is from July’s Supplemental Security Income. The payment is actually an advance of this July 2023 benefit. This payment is being advanced because the 1st of the month is a weekend.
Since the Administration does not send checks on weekends and holidays, Social Security workers will make this payment on June 30th. This day is the immediately preceding business day, so that will be the payment day.
Other pensioner payments in June
In addition to these two payments, the last check of which is the extra one for the month, the Social Security Administration will send out other checks on other days. So you can check the payment day, here is the complete schedule of June benefits:
- June 1st. This month’s Supplemental Security Income payment.
- June 2nd. Retirement payment for pre-1997 beneficiaries.
- Post-1997 retirees
- June 14th. Beneficiaries with birthdays between the 1st and 10th get their Social Security.
- June 21st. Pensioners with birthdays between the 11th and 20th of the month.
- June 28th. Beneficiaries with birth dates between the 21st and 31st of any month.
- June 30th. July Supplemental Security Income payment.
With this calendar we will be able to find out if we will soon receive a payment or if we have to claim a payment already sent.
