In the United States, the most important factor in determining which day we will receive our Social Security retirement check is our date of birth. This means that depending on the day we were born, our Social Security check will arrive earlier or later in the month.
Also, the Social Security Administration divides all retirees into three different groups. Each of these groups consists of retirees and pensioners from all United States. In addition, the reason for retirement does not matter. Therefore, it makes no difference whether our benefit is for disability, age retirement or some other reason.
So if you have a benefit you just need to know your birthday to determine on which day of the month you can have the new cheque in your pocket. It’s a very easy method to follow. Also, the Social Security Administration has already announced next months payment, so we can have great financial control in our household.
When do retirees born 11th-20th receive Social Security?
The day on which the Social Security Administration will send the new retirement check to its beneficiaries is February 15th. On this day, pensioners with birthdays between the 11th and 20th of the month could have their benefit money in their pocket. Some of these pensioners will not receive the cheque on the same day, as this depends on the method of collection.
If we receive the money through a bank account, it can take up to 3 days for the cheque to arrive. On the other hand, by activating Direct Deposit we find that the Social Security retirement check will appear immediately, so we can have the money on February 15th.
Other pension check payments in February
In addition to the payment on the 15th of February, the Social Security Administration sent another check on the 8th. This check was for pensioners with birthdays between the 1st and 10th of the month. It will also send another check in the last week of February. The exact day on which it will send the last of this month’s checks is the 22nd. Only retirees born between the 21st and 31st will be able to receive this last money transfer.
A detail to keep in mind is that it is not necessary to be born in February to receive the February check. Retirees born in May receive checks for May, June, September and December, in addition to the rest of the months. The only important fact in these cases is the day of retirement. It does not matter the month or year of birth, since Social Security groups retirees according to the day of the month in which they were born.
