Irregularities in the timing of United States Social Security payments are not very common, but they do exist. And these irregularities are what cause a retiree to receive the month’s benefit money earlier. It is usual for the Social Security Administration to send out these checks earlier, but sometimes the opposite can happen.
The month of September will see one of these calendar irregularities. However, it will be possible to receive payment in advance only in one particular case. Retirees and pensioners who do not do this will not be able to receive their Social Security check early. In fact, they may have to wait a little longer for the money.
The reason for retirement does not interfere with payday, as we have seen on more than one occasion. This means that it doesn’t matter whether the benefit we have is for age or disability, among other reasons. So both 65 year old retirees and the rest can receive the September benefit earlier by just meeting a couple of requirements.
The rest of the retirees who do not meet these requirements will only have to wait to receive the check as usual. Are you in the group of retirees who will receive the Social Security benefit earlier?
HOW DO I GET MY SEPTEMBER SOCIAL SECURITY CHECK EARLY?
The key to getting the early September retirement check comes down to the method of collection and date of retirement. Beneficiaries who applied for a Social Security check before 1997 are the ones who will collect on the first day of September.
In these cases, it is customary to collect on the 3rd day of the month, but in September the 3rd day is Sunday. Therefore, the payment will be made on the immediately preceding business day, which will be the 1st of the month.
Also, only retirees who have Direct Deposit activated will be able to cash their Social Security check on the exact same day. It is not possible to cash the check on that day without this collection method activated. So activate it so you can receive the money as soon as possible.
CAN I CASH MY SSI AND PENSIONER’S CHECK ON THE SAME DAY?
In September we have, in addition to all this, another irregularity in the payment schedule. The Supplemental Security Income benefit may arrive on the same day as the benefit for pre-1997 retirees.
This means that pre-1997 beneficiaries with Supplemental Security Income accepted and Direct Deposit activated will receive two checks on the same day.
Each check is for a different amount, as the two Social Security checks are completely separate. After this payment, beneficiaries in this group will have to wait until October 3rd to receive their new benefit for the month.
