Eligible United States Social Security retirees will be able to get a new retirement payment in the next week. This will be the last of the retirement payments for all of 2023, so it will also be the last December payment this year.
After this payment we will have to wait until 2024 to get a new benefit. However, there is an extra payment from Social Security coming later this month, although that payment will only be for an exclusive group of beneficiaries.
Whatever age you are and whatever type of Social Security benefit you have you could be eligible to get retirement check of up to $4,555 in the next week. This payment will be the last one in this amount, as after that payment all checks will carry the 2024 COLA included.
So check to see if you meet these requirements so you can get a new benefit that will allow us to have a little extra money before the end of the year. Also, check to see if you can get the extra payment before the end of 2023.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO GET THE NEXT SOCIAL SECURITY PAYMENT?
The last of the 2023 Social Security payments will arrive next December 27th. This payment will be only for group number 4 retirement beneficiaries. And in order to acquire this check it doesn’t matter what type of retirement we have.
What does matter is both the year of birth and the birthday. In this case, the two mandatory requirements to obtain this last check of 2023 are:
- Have a retirement since after 1997.
- Have a birthday between the 21st and 31st of any month.
By meeting these requirements it is possible for the Social Security Administration to put us on the eligible list. This way it will send the checks for this group to the beneficiaries’ bank accounts.
If you are in this group, you will be able to collect the payment on the same day, but only if you activate Direct Deposit. Otherwise, the payment could arrive around three days later, although it will depend on our bank.
EXTRA SSA PAYMENT IN DECEMBER
In addition to this last payment on December 27th there is an extra payment that will arrive on December 29th for a certain group of United States citizens. This extra payment is the Supplemental Security Income and is actually the payment pertaining to the month of January 2024.
If we have this benefit accepted and we have Direct Deposit active, we will be able to get this check at the end of December. This is because the Social Security Administration brings the payment forward because January 1st, the day they usually send out SSI, is a holiday. Therefore, the payment arrives early.
Also, keep in mind that the check for this payment will include the 2024 COLA. This is good news, because the payment we get on December 29th will carry 3.2% more than the payment we received from Social Security’s Supplemental Security Income during 2023.
