Although many may think April Fools’ Day jokes are still going on in the United States, that is not the case. Millions of disabled U.S. citizens will not receive a Supplemental Security Income check in April, but it’s not actually bad news. Within the year’s schedule of payments, retirees still receive their benefit every month.

The difference is that sometimes pensioners receive checks early. And that is the situation we are in for the month of April 2023. The calendar for this month is a bit irregular, since it starts on a weekend. When this irregular situation occurs, the Supplemental Security Income calendar changes, and that is why some users with disabilities do not receive this check in April.

However, the payment still reaches all pockets. The difference is that most recipients, or at least those who have a particular collection method activated, should already have a check with the Supplemental Security Income payment. The rest could receive it today or in the next few days.

As usual with these types of Social Security payments, the method chosen to receive the money is critical. There are two methods you can use, one of which is much faster than the other. So choose well how you want to receive your check to avoid delays in collections.

Why doesn’t Supplemental Security Income arrive in April?

The main reason Supplemental Security Income does not reach millions of beneficiaries in April is because of the 1st of the month. The Social Security Administration sends this benefit to all recipients on the 1st. So if you have an SSI check you can receive it on that day as usual.

But when the 1st of the month is a holiday or weekend, the payment system changes. The Social Security Administration does not send the money on that day, but on the immediately preceding business day. In this particular case we are talking about the 31st of March, i.e., last month.

Who received the April SSI payment from Social Security in March?

The April SSI check arrived in March to millions of citizens. Although only those who have Direct Deposit activated were able to receive this payment early. All other Supplemental Security Income recipients have to wait to receive a check.

The usual waiting time in these cases is 3 days after the money is sent. But that really depends on the bank, not the Social Security Administration. If you want to get not only SSI but all your SSA payments before anyone else, activate Direct Deposit and forget about delays in collecting your pension.

So there is really nothing to worry about with the April Supplemental Security Income payment. Some received it in March and the rest of the beneficiaries will receive it in the next few days at the latest.
