Each new month that begins, the Social Security payment schedule starts over so that your beneficiaries in the United States can know when they will receive each payment. And this calendar is usually very regular, but there are months when we encounter some irregularities. When these irregularities occur citizens may get some extra checks.
Even so, getting one of these extra checks does not mean that at the end of the year we will have more money from Social Security. The money at the end of each year is the same, only we can get it in advance. This benefit is only for the neediest Americans and having it accepted in this month can mean collecting two payments. HOW TO GET THREE SOCIAL SECURITY CHECKS IN DECEMBER?
In order to understand this perfectly, it is necessary to first understand which checks we can get. We have already mentioned that in order to get the extra payment it is necessary to have Supplemental Security Income. And that is the main thing in this case.
If we are eligible to get Supplemental Security Income payment we are only two steps away from getting three checks in December. The second step is to also have a retirement benefit. The third step is to activate Direct Deposit as a collection method.
If all these requirements are met, we will be able to get a Supplemental Security Income payment on the 1st and 29th of December. On the other hand, the third check will be paid on one of the Social Security payment days of the month, which are December 1st, 13th, 20th or 27th depending on the date of retirement and birthday.
SUPPLEMENTAL SECURITY INCOME REQUIREMENTS
The Social Security retirement payment goes only to retirees of any type. It doesn’t matter if our benefit is disability, age retirement or widowed. But Supplemental Security Income is a totally different payment.
This payment can only be claimed by Americans who meet the following requirements:
- Be age 65 or older or have a disability.
- Have a low monthly income and low resources.
And it is not mandatory to have a Social Security retirement check to be eligible for this benefit. What is mandatory is to meet these two requirements. This is the only way to collect three checks in the month of December.
