SNAP beneficiaries who usually go grocery shopping at Walmart need to have a look at the following stores. Some of you may think it has to do with the company’s restrictions, but it is not the case. As you might have recently heard, Walmart’s CEO announced the closing of some of their stores in the USA. Unfortunately, those who live close to one of them and are regular customers will be most affected.

In fact, it is not one or two Walmart stores that are closing down.  Up to seven different locations will close and therefore, customers will not be able to pay with their SNAP cards there. There are five stores in total where those closures will take place. Not only is Walmart closing some stores, but they are also reducing the size of two other locations. It is common that a few stores are closed every year due to the fact that they fail to meet profit expectations.

Which are the places where SNAP will not be available due to their closing?

Illinois will be the place where more stores will close down. In total, three stores will be closed for good. So, those customers who are keen to go grocery shopping at Walmart will be disappointed. The Homewood Supercenter at 17550 South Halsted St, Homewood is one of them, so make sure you go there for your last purchases with SNAP before they no longer open.

Plainfield Walmart Supercenter is the second one, located at 12690 S Route 59, Plainfield, IL 60585. The third store -pick-up only concept- will also be closing. Oregon SNAP beneficiaries will also have closures. In their case, it will just be a couple of them. It will be the Portland Supercenters whose locations are 4200 Se 82nd Ave, Portland, OR 97266, and 1123 N Hayden Meadows Dr, Portland, OR 97217.

Which states will only see the closure of one Walmart store?

Those Walmart customers and SNAP beneficiaries who live in Arkansas, Florida, New Mexico, and Wisconsin will see just one store close down. The store that is closing in Arkansas is the pick-up only concept at 3701 SE Dodson Road, Bentonville. The location in Florida is the Neighbourhood Market concept at 6900 US Highway 19 North, Pinellas Park.

The Albuquerque Walmart store at 301 San Mateo Blvd. SE in New Mexico is going to disappear soon too. Last but not least, is the Wisconsin Walmart store at 10330 W. Silver Spring Dr, Milwaukee. It will be during March when these Walmart stores close down and SNAP beneficiaries will not have the opportunity to spend their checks anymore. Inflation is also affecting business economies and underperformance might be one of the reasons for these closures. Have a look at the different locations that are closest to you in order to spend your SNAP check there.
