U.S. film director Peter Bogdanovich, responsible for ‘The Last Movie’ or ‘Paper Moon’, among others, has died at the age of 82, his family has confirmed.
Bogdanovich died of natural causes shortly before 1 a.m. (U.S. local time), according to a statement sent by his daughter, Antonia Bogdanovich.
“We would like to ask for your respect for our privacy as we mourn the death of our loved one, this wonderful man,” according to a statement picked up by NBC.
Bogdanovich leaves behind an extraordinary legacy as one of the great representatives of the so-called New Hollywood, a countercultural cinematic trend with a clear European influence, as well as a gateway to legendary directors such as Francis Ford Coppola, Steven Spielberg, Martin Scorsese and George Lucas.
