Stimulus cheques are a mainstay of the family economy for many households in the United States. Thanks to these types of payments, many families have very large financial relief to be able to pay bills, pay for housing and buy food. It is a huge help that makes life easier in general.

Although the IRS sends out most of these stimulus cheques automatically, there are some that citizens have to claim. In this case, we are talking about two checks in particular that Americans can apply for in order to get them. However, it is mandatory to meet the requirements in order to get them.

There are two stimulus cheques in total and they have a maximum of $800 each. Each of the cheques is targeted to a specific audience, so not all United States citizens are eligible for these amounts.

Who can receive these two stimulus checks?

There are two recipients of these stimulus cheques:

The first of these checks is given because of the high inflation in these times. It is a one-time relief payment to citizens who need it most.

On the other hand, the victims of Hurricane Ian are also in need of financial help. For them is the second of the stimulus cheques that can be applied for until February 15. There is still a month left to apply for this cheque.

Requirements to apply for these cheques

For the cheque related to South Carolina, the only main requirement is to have the tax return filed before February 15. We are talking about last year’s tax return. Therefore, it is not the attorney’s 2022 tax return, but the 2021 tax return. Those who have already done it do not have to do it again.

On the other hand, the requirement for Hurricane Ian victims is exactly the same. The tax return was scheduled to be completed by October 2022, but the date has been extended to February 15, 2023. The final amount of the checks will depend on the personal return, with the maximum being $800 per person.

However, remember that not all citizens are required to file a tax return. There are certain criteria for which citizens are not eligible, so be sure to check before making the return so as not to pay taxes that you do not have to pay.
