Why does SSA send two SSI checks in March?
The reason the Social Security Administration sends up to 2 different SSI checks in March is because of a calendar irregularity. SSI payments are always made on the 1st of each month. However, this is not the case if there is a special situation.
If the 1st day of a month is a holiday or weekend, the payment is made on the immediately preceding working day. That is why we have two different SSI payments in March. That is since Social Security will not send a check on April 1, since it is a weekend.
