WHO WILL RECEIVE THE EXTRA SUPPLEMENTAL SECURITY INCOME FOR SEPTEMBER AND WHEN
The Social Security Administration will send out a new Supplemental Security Income check for September. But it will also send an extra check at the end of the month. This is due to a scheduling irregularity.
SSI payments always arrive on the 1st of the month, with some exceptions. When the 1st of the month is a holiday or weekend, the Social Security Administration sends out a check on the immediately preceding business day.
This means that on the 1st of October, the Administration will send out Supplemental Security Income on the last business day of September. And this last business day will be the 29th of this month.
However, not all Americans can receive this extra benefit. They will receive it if they have Supplemental Security Income accepted, but not within the September days. In order to receive two checks this month, Direct Deposit must be activated.
Otherwise, the money could take much longer. That’s because September 29th is a Friday. So if we receive the money by classic deposit to our bank account, it could arrive in our pocket on the 3rd or even the 4th of October.
Each SSI check is completely individual. The maximum amount is $914 per month, but that does not mean that all recipients receive the same benefit. The final check will depend on the individual income of the citizen who applies for and is accepted for Social Security Supplemental Security Income.
