Within the remaining days of 2023 there are some SSI payments to come for United States citizens. These payments may not be for all Americans, but for a specific group of Americans. Even though millions of Americans get monthly Social Security payments not all of them get SSI checks.
So we can still mark the calendar for a total of two SSI payments before the end of 2023. Even so, not all of these payments belong on the 2023 check calendar, as there is an irregularity in the calendar that brings forward one payment from next year. The important thing to be clear about is that if we have SSI accepted we could get these two payments.
In the event that we get both payments we could have as much as $1,828 of SSI in our pocket in December. Not all Supplemental Security Income recipients will get this amount of this Social Security payment, but that is the maximum limit in 2023. Starting next year the payment will be higher.
Therefore, we should keep in mind that if one of these payments pertains to 2024 the maximum check for the two payments combined will go beyond $1,828, although it will all depend on how much each American collects. Do you already know how much your SSI will increase for next year?
LAST SSI CHECKS IN 2023
In the month of December we will have two different SSI checks. The last one pertaining to the year 2023 will be on December 1st. This check will be the last one with a maximum amount of $914 per month. But it will not be the last payment that the Social Security Administration will send regarding this type of benefit.
In addition to this payment, the Administration will send another check on the 29th day of December. However, this payment does not pertain to the year 2023, but to the year 2024. The payment is sent in advance because January 1st is a holiday. This causes the Administration to make an early payment on this check.
Remember that this December 29th check will have the 2024 COLA added to it. So the maximum payment will not be $914, but $943. This makes it so that we can get one check in December for up to $914 and one check for up to $943.
In order to get this check in the same month of December it is mandatory to activate Direct Deposit. If we do not activate this cashing method, the money may arrive in the following week, i.e. around January 4 or 5.
