In the United States calendar, national holidays cause the Social Security Administration to have to change the day of their payments a bit. There are due to the fact that there are many holidays on a very specific date, so on those days, the SSA does not send out the money in case it is a regular payment day. For that reason, it is usual to see that at the beginning of the year the Social Security Administration announces the calendar with the dates on which it sends the money.
Until the end of the year, there are still some important holidays to celebrate. U.S. citizens will celebrate Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s Day. These three holidays are of great importance to all Americans, so they are always on everyone’s calendar in a special way. But they mark in a very strong way the day of payments, or at least modify in some way the usual calendar.
On the one hand, Thanksgiving will be next November 24. This day is Thursday, the last of the month. On the other hand, Christmas is on December 25 and New Year’s Eve is on December 31, which will be Saturday. Therefore, January 1, 2023, is Sunday. These days could affect Social Security payments for the remainder of 2022.
Social Security payments in the remainder of 2022
There are still several Social Security payments in the remainder of 2022 and the aforementioned holidays could change the configuration a bit. While it is true that retirement and disability payment dates are on Wednesdays and neither of these holidays are on those days, SSI is affected. For that reason, let’s take a look at the payments for the remainder of the year, so we eliminate all doubts. Let’s look at the Social Security payments for October, November, and December.
October
- October 12.
- October 19.
- October 26.
In this month there are only Social Security payments for retirees and people with disabilities. There is no SSI due to the fact that the 1st was a weekend, so the payment was made on September 30, the previous month.
November
- November 1.
- November 9.
- November 16.
- November 23.
November 1st belongs to the Supplemental Security Income payment. The remaining days pertain to Social Security payments for retirement or disability pensioners.
December
- December 1.
- December 14.
- December 21.
- December 28.
- December 30.
In this month there are up to five days of payments. Even so, they do not all pertain to the same Social Security benefits. Days 1 and 30 are the SSI payments, with the last day corresponding to January 2023. On the other hand, days 14, 21 and 28 are the payments of Social Security benefits.
