In the United States, a new month means a new benefit for many American citizens. The Social Security Administration sends out retirement and disability benefit payments on a monthly basis. Therefore, any start of the month is good news for beneficiaries who only collect the Social Security benefit. Despite this, remember that it is not advisable to collect only this benefit, as it is a good idea to have another source of extra income.
The Social Security Administration has already released the schedule for October payments. For this reason, we can now know exactly what day we will be paid. The payment day is based on the day of birth, so it is really easy to remember. Thus, there are three different groups with respect to this payment schedule. Each group receives the money on a different Wednesday of the month. On which Wednesday will you receive your benefit?
Social Security Payments in October
The October Social Security payment schedule is organized so that the money reaches users on the second, third and fourth Wednesday of the month. Retirees receive this benefit on this day only if they have Direct Deposit activated. Otherwise, there may be a slight delay, although this does not necessarily have to happen.
The schedule of payments in October is as follows:
- 2nd Wednesday of the month. 12th of October. This day is the first payment of the month and beneficiaries born between the 1st and 10th of the month receive the benefit.
- 3rd Wednesday of the month. October 19th. The Social Security Administration sends this benefit payment to those born between the 11th and 20th.
- 4th Wednesday of the month. October 26th. Beneficiaries with birthdays between the 21st and 31st receive their monthly benefit check on this day.
In addition, there are no other Social Security payments in October. In theory, there should be a Supplemental Security Income (SSI) payment on the 1st of October, but this is not the case because that day is a weekend. For that reason, the October SSI payment is made on the last working day of the previous month. In this case, that day is September 30th.
And remember that if you have any occasional delays with the payment of your subsidy, the first thing to do is to contact your bank. If the bank cannot give you a solution, then call your local office.
