If we want to apply for the federal Social Security disability benefit in 2023 we must meet a couple of requirements. These requirements are for all United States citizens who want to apply.
The first of these requirements is to have medical documentation that proves our condition. This condition is none other than being in a situation of disability that does not allow us to work for a period of time or that results in death.
The other fundamental requirement is to have worked for the time necessary to obtain this benefit. As each case is individual and specific, we must contact the Social Security Administration to determine our situation.
When will I receive my Social Security benefit?
As soon as the Social Security Administration agrees to give us a Federal Disability Benefit check, we will begin collecting the money on a monthly basis. The day we receive our check depends on our birthday.
The days when the Social Security Administration sends out disability checks are:
- Second Wednesday of the month. Payment for retirees born between the 1st and 10th of the month.
- Third Wednesday of the month. Disability retirees with birthdays between the 11th and 20th of the month receive their payment.
- Fourth Wednesday of the month. On this day the Administration sends the benefit to retirees with birthdays between the 21st and 31st.

To do so, they must activate Direct Deposit. Otherwise, they will have to wait up to 3 days to receive the money in their bank account.
