Supplemental Security Income checks always arrive in a timely manner to the homes of United States citizens. These checks are sent every month by the United States Administration. However, it is not every month that recipients are able to receive this money. While it is true that each month’s budget is the same in terms of Social Security checks for its users, they do not always receive the money on the same date.
This is always due to an irregularity in the calendar. Because of this irregularity, millions of U.S. citizens will not receive a Supplemental Security Income check in April, even though they have had this benefit accepted for some time. This may seem like a bad thing, but in fact it is quite the opposite.
The Social Security Administration will not send out a Supplemental Security Income check in April, but this does not mean that we will not receive this amount of money. In fact, what will happen is that the recipients of this benefit will receive it earlier. To be exact, on the 31st day of March 2023.
Why isn’t Social Security sending out an SSI check in April?
We have commented above that this change in the day of payment is due to an irregularity in the calendar. To determine this exact irregularity we have to take into account the day on which the Administration usually sends the SSI money. Supplemental Security Income payments are always made on the 1st of each month, with some exceptions.
These exceptions include April 2023. The Social Security Administration does not pay on weekends or holidays. This means that it does not pay checks for any type of benefit on these types of days. Since April 1st is a weekend, Social Security will not pay checks for this payment on this day.
Instead of delaying payment, SSA sends the SSI payment on the immediately preceding business day. This is done to avoid inconvenience to the recipients of this check. However, it should be noted that the SSA sends the money on that day, but that does not mean that all retirees will receive a check instantly, which requires a specific collection method.
Receiving SSI instantly
We must activate Direct Deposit if we want to have any Social Security payment instantly. This collection method is fast, effective and secure, so there is no excuse to start collecting all SSA benefits this way.
If we do not choose Direct Deposit we will receive cheque through a bank deposit. If this is the case, it is possible that we will receive the money in April, as it can take up to 3 days to appear. The method of collection is an individual choice, but it is clear that one is more advantageous than the other.
