Can I Draw Social Security at 62 and Still Work Full Time?

What do you do if Social Security tells you to pay back benefits you have already received?

62 years-old seniors are not getting next SSI check

Being a senior in the United States and collecting a Social Security benefit gives many former workers a break. When a retiree stops collecting a worker’s salary and starts collecting a retirement benefit, the break begins. Fortunately, this system means that retirees no longer have to work, at least for the most part. While it’s certainly a good idea to find another source of income, if you have a good monthly Social Security check, you won’t need anything else to pay your monthly bills.

The maximum check of $4,194 per month in 2022 is not easy to come by. In addition, you also have to remember that if you have already started collecting Social Security you will have no way to increase your monthly amount. That’s why it’s good to have a plan to maximize your retirement as much as possible. It is not impossible to reach the Social Security maximum, but it does require a series of requirements that we must plan for a long time in advance.

On the other hand, it is also good to remember that the Social Security benefit check is not only sent to retirees. People with disabilities are also entitled to this benefit. If you have an accepted Social Security benefit, just by meeting one requirement you can receive your benefit next October 26th. Are you on the list for the next SSA retirement payment?

Who receives the next Social Security benefit?

The Social Security Administration divides benefit recipients into three different groups. Within these groups are people who have a retirement payment and others who have a disability payment. The only thing that is important in determining when you will receive your benefit is the date of your birth. These three groups are divided as follows:

  • Beneficiaries born between the 1st and 10th of the month.
  • Social Security beneficiaries with birthdays between the 11th and 20th of the month.
  • Beneficiaries with the day of birth between the 21st and 31st of the month.

Therefore, the group to which you belong determines whether you will receive your benefit on one day or another. The first of these groups mentioned above receives the benefit on the second Wednesday of the month. This was the 12th in October. On the other hand, the second of the groups received the money on the third Wednesday of the month, i.e., the 19th of October.

Finally, the next payment from Social Security will be on the 26th of October and is for the beneficiaries of the third group. This is the fourth Wednesday of the month. Every month, the payment structure is the same. In this way, SSA ensures that its beneficiaries know exactly on which days they will be paid.
