As a new month begins, the Social Security Administration sends new Supplemental Security Income (SSI) checks to recipients. This benefit of up to $943 is a great help for needy Americans.
Getting each of these checks means extra money. And it is thanks to this extra money that thousands of Americans have the opportunity to pay for their regular expenses in the best way possible. However, not all Americans who apply for this check are able to get it.
Who will get the May Supplemental Security Income (SSI)?
In just two weeks thousands of these Americans with an accepted benefit will be able to enjoy one of the new checks. This new check is for each and every beneficiary with this accepted benefit. So if you have Supplemental Security Income (SSI) you will be able to get it soon.
However, it is true that you may not get the check directly on the same day it is mailed. This will depend on the collection method we have activated. But leaving that aside, we should point out that the payment day will be the 1st of May and that the check will be larger than in previous years.
And that is that the May Supplemental Security Income (SSI) payment will have a 3.2% increase over the May 2023 check. Thus, our payment for that prior year will have increased slightly to a maximum figure of $943.
Eligibility for monthly Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
While it is true that many Americans today get one of these Social Security payments, it is also true that there are certain conditions that must be met if we want the Administration to pay us this benefit.
To get Supplemental Security Income (SSI) each month we must:
- Be 65 years of age or older. It is also possible to apply if you have a disability.
- Have low resources, as well as low monthly income.
Thus, only United States citizens over 65 years of age or with a disability and low income can apply for this benefit. It is also noteworthy that although the payment is up to $943, the final amount will always depend on the monthly income of each Supplemental Security Income (SSI) beneficiary.
