Each new month, the Social Security Administration sends citizens with the United States Supplemental Security Income a new payment. This makes it possible for the neediest citizens to have up to $914 extra per month. However, only one group of beneficiaries can have this extra benefit in June. Not all Americans have access to this check.
In order to have an extra Supplemental Security Income benefit in June, we only have to meet two requirements. The first of these requirements is to have the benefit previously accepted. If we do not have the previously accepted Supplemental Security Income, we will not be able to receive the double payment for June. We would be able to receive the extra payment at the end of June, but not two checks.
The other requirement is to have Direct Deposit as a method of cashing Social Security checks. Thanks to this method of cashing we will be able to immediately enjoy any type of benefit. So the moment the Administration sends the Supplemental Security Income we will have it in our pocket.
Why are there two payments of Supplemental Security Income in one month?
A small irregularity in the calendar causes the Supplemental Security Income check to arrive twice in the same month. In order to receive this double payment, we must activate Direct Deposit, as mentioned above.
The main reason for receiving two of these checks is because the Social Security Administration always sends out payments on the 1st of the month. But when the 1st of the month is a holiday or a Saturday or Sunday, i.e., a weekend, the Administration sends the payment on the immediately preceding business day. And that day is always the last day of the previous month.
In this case, the Supplemental Security Income payment for the month of July should be on the 1st of the month, but that day is Saturday. For that reason, the payment arrives on June 30th, the last day of the month. However, one must watch out for activating the proper collection method. Otherwise, the retiree will receive this payment later due to the usual waiting days at the bank.
