Each and every payment sent by the United States Social Security Administration to beneficiaries with disabilities is time-stamped. Therefore, we can know in advance at what time of the month we will receive the disability benefit. This will depend on several factors, as there are several requirements to be met if we want to receive the next of the payments, for example.
However, these requirements are not eligible for us. That is, the information that makes us eligible to have a Social Security disability check in the next mailing or not will depend on factors that we cannot change. But what we can do is to know the calendar to plan our expenses from the day we receive the monthly check.
In this regard, it is also important to activate the appropriate collection method. If we don’t take the fastest collection method, we may have to wait a little longer to get the disability payment in our pocket. So, know when your next Social Security check will be and find out if you can receive it so you can count on that money.
Qualifying for your next disability benefit
The next Social Security disability check will arrive in just a few days. This check, with a maximum amount of $3,627, is the last of the May payments. So after this benefit all recipients have to wait until June to collect a new check again.
Two requirements must be met in order to receive the benefit:
- The first of these requirements is to have applied for retirement after 1997. This is important, since any beneficiary prior to that time receives the first of the month’s checks. This would usually be on the 3rd day, with some exceptions.
- Born between the 21st and 31st of the month. This is the last group to be paid. Disability benefit recipients will have their Social Security payment on the next day as long as they were born between these days and also meet the above requirement.
Just meeting these two requirements is more than enough. However, in order to have the check on the same day that the Administration sends it, we must activate a specific collection method. That collection method is Direct Deposit. Thanks to this way of receiving the money from Social Security all benefits arrive immediately.
So, having Direct Deposit, having applied for retirement after 1997 and having reached the age between the 21st and 31st, we will receive the next check. The Social Security Administration will send this check on the 24th day of May. After this payment, there are no more payments this month, so we have to wait until June.
