Benefit payments are paid monthly by United States Social Security. The date of the payments varies depending on the date of birth of the person who will receive the payment. Another thing that also changes is how you can receive these benefit payments. There are two main ways to receive the payment. These ways are through a bank account or through the Direct Express card, which facilitates the receipt of the payment and expedites the transaction.

If you want to choose payment through your bank account, you will not encounter any problems in this regard. The Social Security will make the payment of the retirement benefit on the corresponding day. The payment can arrive up to 3 days later from the date of issue. It all depends on your bank account and how fast it is. Each bank is different, so if you have a problem with payments it is best to go to your branch.

On the other hand, it is also possible to activate payments through the Direct Express card, a debit card that allows you to receive the money monthly and directly. Through this card we will not have to wait, as it will be immediately on the day of the Social Security payment, so it may be an option to consider.

Which option to collect Social Security is better?

As we have already mentioned, there are two main ways to collect Social Security benefits. The first is our usual bank account. The administration send the money monthly and the date of receipt depends on the bank. If you choose this option, the biggest advantage is that you will have the same bank as usual and you will be able to control your money in the same way. You will not need anything extra and you will not have any worries.

The other way to receive the money from Social Security is through the Direct Express card. With this debit card you don’t have to worry about having a bank account. You do not need anything more than your card to make the necessary payments. Since it is a prepaid card, you will not have to pay any fees or other additional payments. In addition, you will always receive the money on the same day of the month and will not have to wait as with a bank account.

When are benefits paid?

Benefits are paid according to the date of birth. If you were born between the 1st and 10th of the month, you will receive your SS benefits on the second Wednesday of the month. For those who were born between the 11th and 20th, you will collect your benefit on the third Wednesday of the month. If you were born between the 21st and 31st of the month, your payday is the last Wednesday of the month.

This means that if you receive the payment in your bank account, Social Security will send the payment on Wednesday and you can receive it on the same day, Thursday or the following Friday. It all depends, as we have already mentioned, on the bank. If you have the Direct Express card, you will have the money available the same day, with no delays and no waiting.
