Eligible Social Security beneficiaries will be able to get three different checks from the United States Government within the month of May. To do so, only a few requirements must be met. Also, not all beneficiaries will get these three payments on the same days.
It is true that two of these three checks will be sent by Social Security on the same days for all beneficiaries. But the third check may arrive on different days of the month. It is also possible to get only one of these checks, just as it is possible to get only two of these benefit checks.
When do Social Security checks arrive in May?
The changes to the May Social Security checks are actually due to an irregularity in the December calendar. With this in mind, we should know that the double payment this coming month will be Supplemental Security Income.
Thus, recipients of this benefit can get payments on the 1st and 31st of May. This means two payments within the same month, so we can get two checks for up to $943 of this extra Social Security benefit.
But those checks aren’t the only ones coming in this coming month. The Social Security Administration will also send payments to retiree beneficiaries. Each of these retirees gets their payment earlier or later depending on the group to which they belong.
On the one hand, we have the May 3rd payment. This payment is for retirees prior to 1997. If our check started arriving in May 1997 or later, the collection day in May will be on the 8th, 15th or 22nd. The exact day will depend on the date of each beneficiary’s birthday.
In short, if we have Supplemental Security Income accepted and, in addition, a retirement payment, we can get three Social Security checks in May. The days we get the payments will depend not only on the group we belong to, but also on the collection method we have active.
If we have chosen Direct Deposit as our collection method, the money will be available to us on the same day it is sent. If this is not the case, the payment will arrive in the following days to our current account.
