The days when the Social Security Administration provides benefits to United States retirees are good days for citizens. Thanks to this type of benefits, a large number of pensioners are able to live and pay their bills. However, it is not advisable to rely entirely on payments related to Social Security.
Thus, it is always good to keep in mind a diversification of the money we earn. There are many different ways to get extra money during Social Security retirement. It is not necessary to work, although it can be one of the great options. Be that as it may, the important thing at this point is to know the day the SSA sends the pension money.
To find this out we simply need to know the day we were born. With this information in mind, keeping track of the payment schedule is really easy. We can check if we will receive the money on the second, third or fourth Wednesday of the month. Having this information is really useful if we want to organize the household economy.
But Social Security does not only pay the pension days. In addition to this, there is another payment called Supplemental Security Income, available to a small group of retirees and disabled users. To find out if we have access to SSI, all we have to do is use the BEST tool. The payment date for this other benefit is always the 1st of each month, with some exceptions.
Schedule of Social Security checks in December
Social Security payments follow the following schedule for retirees with a pension:
- 2nd Wednesday of the month. Payment for retirees born between the 1st and 10th of any month of the year. In December, this day is the 14th.
- 3rd Wednesday of the month. Social Security pays pension payments on this day to retirees who have their birthday between the 11th and 20th of a month. In this month, the 21st is the 3rd Wednesday.
- 4th Wednesday of the month. Retirees born between the 21st and 31st of any month will receive their benefit on this day. In the month of December 2022, this day is the 28th.
Following this scheme, it is very easy to know the day on which a retiree can receive the payment. In addition to this, it should also be taken into account that the Social Security sent on the 1st day the SSI payment. But that is not all, as on the 30th of December it will also send a different payment. However, this payment does not pertain to the year 2022, but to 2023. This situation is so because January 1, 2023 is a holiday and Sunday.
