Even though the time has come to retire from your main job, it doesn’t mean it’s time to stop. Many U.S. citizens continue to work, at least part-time, after retirement. That’s because, according to GoBankingRates, 66% of Americans fear running out of money. So they decide to continue working part-time after retirement to have that extra money for financial security.
In the GoBankingRates survey focused on pension plans, it showed that 58% of Americans plan to continue working during retirement on a partial basis. In addition to those worried about running out of money, 50% of people are concerned about unexpected health care costs and 47% expect their Social Security pension to be cut. So whether you need the money to make ends meet or you’re thinking about not stopping in retirement, these work-from-home options are a good way to balance your personal life with your work life.
The U.S. Social Security Administration announced a few weeks ago an 8.7% increase in benefits by 2023 following the latest year-over-year inflation figure. This increase will benefit more than 70 million Americans and will mean an increase of more than $140 per month starting in January.
Social Security is the largest source of income for retirees in the United States, but currently the salary received may not be enough to live on. That is why many are considering part-time work after retirement. At the beginning of 2022, Social Security increased benefits by 5.9% in response to rising prices, but it hasn’t been enough for America’s millions of retirees.
