Although the Social Security Administration has already sent several checks to United States retirees, other groups have yet to get their April benefit. And this benefit will include an increase over the previous year’s benefits for 2023.
For that reason, knowing what our check will be in April is really important, as it will help us to have a better control of our household finances. Other benefits such as Supplemental Security Income aside, the Social Security retirement check is important and knowing how much it will be is critical for your beneficiaries.
How much will I get from Social Security in April?
The final amount you will get in April 2024 will depend on the check you received in previous months. Payments for this benefit increase by 3.2% in 2024 thanks to the COLA. So your April 2023 check will see an increase of that percentage in this April 2024.
In the event that you got, say, $2,500 in your April Social Security check last year, you will now get a total of $2,580. Each amount is totally individual and unique, so you must calculate your own by adding 3.2% to your check to date.
Each and every Social Security check increased at the beginning of 2024. This is important to keep in mind, as we have been getting the increase since January of this year. So the payment you get in April will be the same as you received in March.
Upcoming Social Security payments in April
Before the end of April, the Administration will send out a total of three more checks. Each of these checks will arrive on the second, third and fourth Wednesday of the month. Since there are no exceptions or irregularities in these payments, we can follow the usual SSA schedule for retirement checks.
The first of these remaining days in April is the 10th of the month. Only retirees with a Social Security after May 1997 get this payment. Also, you must also have a birthday between the 1st and 10th of any month to get it.
The next payment after this will be on April 17th. In order to collect this benefit, it is mandatory to have a birthday between the 11th and 20th of any month. Similarly, it is also mandatory to have the benefit since after May 1997.
The last of the Social Security checks in April will be the 24th. On this day, only post-May 1997 retirees with birthdays between the 21st and 31st can collect retirement payments.
