Americans are set to get $400 in monthly payments thanks to an extension in New Jersey

In 2022, Paterson, New Jersey, proposed to use $46 million in funds allocated under the American Recovery Act. Funds that will be approximately $1.4 million of the total amount would have been allocated for monthly direct payments.

This would result in Paterson, New Jersey residents receiving an extension of the city’s initial guaranteed income program.

Originally, the program provided $400 a month to 110 low-income families through debit cards for one year through June 2022.

While it is unclear how much money will go this time, Mayor Andre Sayegh confirmed that it has not only returned but will be expanded.

This year, the program will hand out money to 200 families, reports PIX11.

Previous requirements for the program required you to be 18 years of age or older.

For individuals, income must not have exceeded $30,000.

The amount is $88,000 for families.

Mayor Andre Sayegh said, “This should also help with this effort to pay bills and have additional income.” Applications will open later this year.

In 2022, the city accepted applications online from April 12-30. It’s unclear if the qualifications will hold this time.
